Strandveld Vineyards began as the collective dream of a group of people with a passion for wine, history and adventure who set out to find the perfect location to produce great wines. Originally a sheep and wheat farm which was completely transformed by renovating the existing dilapidated buildings and planting vineyards.Their first vintage was released under the First Sighting label, chosen in reference to Bartholomeu Diaz’ first sighting of the Cape coastline in 1488. These were followed by Strandveld Vineyards’ premium range. The names chosen for their wines allude to the owners’ keen interest in the explorers who discovered the Cape.

TEAM:
Conrad Vlok has been the winemaker since inception. He is equally involved in the vineyards as in the cellar and has a special passion for Sauvignon blanc.

LOCATION:
The farm is located between Elim and Cape Agulhas. It is the southernmost winery on the continent of Africa which gives rise to severe wind, mist and cool maritime temperatures. But these elements have been used to their advantage in creating unique wines with a distinct nature.
