Raka
Merlot

Raka Wines was established by the Dreyer Family just outside Stanford. Piet Dreyer was a fisherman for most of his life, it was his passion and his livelihood. Raka was the name of his fishing boat, named after the mythical creature, created in a poem by NP van Wyk Louw. It was half man half beast and it became the name and brand for his new business venture. Piet and his wife Elna purchased the Raka Wine farm in 1982. It was first used for farming livestock and growing citrus trees. In 1999 he started planting vineyards and continued to add to them over the years.
