Part two of our 8-part series focussing on the producers of our Pinot Noir Celebration box, we showcase Bouchard Finlayson. Bouchard Finlayson was established in 1989 by Peter Finlayson and Burgundian winemaker Paul Bouchard. Peter was the winemaker at neighbouring producer Hamilton Russell for a decade in the late 70s and 80s. In 1989 he was named the Diner’s Club Winemaker of the Year and through this award, he met Paul Bouchard and spent some time with him in Burgundy. This friendship led to them jointly opening the second winery in the Hemel-en-Aarde region. In 1990 Bouchard Finlayson planted their first Pinot Noir vineyards and their first vintage was released in 1991.
