Bot River

The Bot River wine ward is situated in and around the small town of Bot River, nestled below the Houwhoek Pass which lies between Elgin and Hermanus in South Africa's Western Cape province. Bot River falls under the Walker Bay district and is home to the region's oldest vines. This charming and character-filled wine region embodies countryside hospitality infused with time-aged winemaking craftsmanship.

With a strong influence from the cool Atlantic sea-breeze and its own maritime microclimate, Bot River wine producers consistently create award-winning wines from their Bokkeveld shale and Table Mountain sandstone derived soils. Handcrafted, world-class wines are produced by wineries ranging from traditional, old-school, boutique-styled, family-owned wine farms to high-tech, modern, mechanised, state-of-the-art facilities but they all show the depth of class and quality that this region is becoming famous for.
